In my tips, I want to include Rest and Relaxation. As a nursing student, de-stressing is one of my top priorities because it is impossible to study efficiently when you are stressed out. I am an introvert, so I need personal time to process through things. I can hear what you're thinking based on popular memes, and yep you're right this is totally me.
Actually, I couldn't do that every weekend because I would be so lonely. I am more of an extroverted introvert than an actual introvert. I typically schedule myself about a half hour before bed at night for some quite time to process through the events of the day.During this time I take baths, do yoga or watch an episode of Netflix.
Baths, my absolute favorite relaxation technique. A few tips for a great relaxing bath are: 💧 Add a handful of Epsom salt 💧 Throw in a teabag 💧 Put in a few drops of your favorite essential oil Pre- Bath Spa Treatments Hot oil hair treatments are a great pre-bath time luxury. Most oils can be used moisturize your hair. Several types I have used include: 💧 Avocado 💧 Coconut 💧 Jojoba 💧 Olive 💧 Grape seed 💧 Castor 💧 In a pinch, Canola Sugar Scrubs are another amazing edition to spa time. I use a base of 3:1 Sugar to Oil ratio. You can used basically any oil listed above for the scrub. If you want it to be fancy you can add a few drops of your favorite essential oil Face masks provide a more genuine spa experience. (Quick Tip : you can use you sugar scrub as a face mask!) To make a simple face mask for dry skin all you need is: 💧 Oatmeal 💧 Egg yolk To make a simple mask for oily skin all you need is: 💧 Oatmeal 💧 Egg white Mix ingredients together then smooth and let sit your on face for at least 5 min. |
Netflixing
Yes.The word is now a verb. Sometimes, all I need is to slip into a little coma. Sometimes, I even bring my computer and watch Netflix while I'm taking a bath. It is glorious.
Bible Time
The BEST de-stressor for me, is my quiet time with God. I have been blessed to live in a country where I am allowed to study freely and it is important for me to take advantage of this right. I always keep a spare copy of God's word in my car for when I am having a stressful day. My favorite verses are:
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable,if anything is excellent or
praiseworthy, think about such things." Philippians 4:6-8
"Come to me all you who are burdened and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28
Today, in service my pastor presented a message about triumphing through trial. One of the verses he used was .
"And we know that for those who love God and are called according to His purpose,
all things work together for good." Romans 8:28
It is a popular misconception that trials and stress are a result of not being a good person or failing to follow Christ. However, this is far from the truth. As pastor Dave said today,"trials have a synergistic effect, making us like Christ." The purpose of stress and trials is to make us like Christ. I cannot state it more eloquently than Paul states, "For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus." Philippians 1:6

Prayer
When you are having a bad day carve out time for prayer. It is the most therapeutic recommendation I can give. Relay all your cares to the one who made you, He cares. As you pray in the midst of trials the spirit is crying out with you. I find it is humbling to pray for the global church during times of stress because I am humbled in reminding myself of their tribulations. God has blessed us with so many wonderful things and without checking our perspective it is easy to take them for granted. Praying for the nations also shifts the focus off ourselves allowing the spirit to work in us. Please don' think I am making this us PRAYER WORKS. "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7 |
